five books that will change your life

With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy? - Oscar Wilde

One of this year's resolutions which I have given myself is to read more. In general. Books were mainly what I had in mind seen as I found myself no longer taking the time to read books. To start a given book and just finish it. I think reading is very important in order to satisfy our minds with all things from general knowledge to imaginary and creative beliefs.

I set out to focus my attention towards the self-improving (self-help), as I like to call it, and spiritual books. Why these types of books you think? Simply because they are currently my preferred choice of reads. I believe them to help and influence me a great deal in being the best version of myself and keep my mind health in check. Aka. sound of mind/healthy/positively Happy-Go-Lucky :) I truly believe if every single person were to take the time to read just one self-improving book, the world would be a better place for all. Not to mention how much money we could all spare from visiting our therapists every now and then. While I can entirely understand that these sort of books are not for everyone, I am choosing to share my experience as it truly helped me many a times through various difficult situations/moments in life. I'm a true believer that whatever method of self-help you may deem appropriate for your person, then by all means go for it! You are the only person who knows you the best. Whether it be seeking advice from a friend, therapist, partner, stranger, it is all equally as valuable if it works for you. So long as it provides you with the desired results. Spiritual and self-improving books do not merely serve as a guidance/helping tool to myself but are a great source of pleasure as they tend to open up my mind to new ideologies and allow me to keep perspective in life and yet continuously challenge me on may levels. Perhaps that is one of the most significant reasons as to why I love such books and find myself loaning one after the next at my local library.

These 5 books have all, in their own ways, changed my perspective on the world for the better and greatly helped in shaping my person. With no specific order, they are the following.

1. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, by Deepak Chopra

2. The Power of Now: A guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, by Eckhart Tolle

3. Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear, by Elizabeth Gilbert

4. How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Digital Age, by Dale Carnegie

5. The Mastery of Love, by Don Miguel Ruiz

*Alternatively, you may always consult your local library. I have found all of the above books at my local libraries. Here is a useful link to find whatever books you are searching for within the region of Sydney. Note that membership and book loaning is free (see webpage for added details).

Seen as I could go on for days about each and every one of these books, I look forward to writing separate Lifestyle posts for them on an individual basis. It could be very interesting to dissect the anatomy behind each book a little.

Perhaps we could initiate a book club via the website and share our thoughts, ideas and understanding of a given book every so often? I just love the idea of it already!
