I might have mentioned in the past that one of my resolutions for this year is to read. And to read far more than I ever have before! It's a little embarrassing to admit that the only real moment in my life I can remember reading consistently was when I was pretty much forced to as it was a part of my homework in high school. This was over a decade ago! Yikes.. I know.
So, in one of my previous lifestyle posts, I wrote about a list of books I have read this year which have changed my life for the better. And I mean, entirely change my outlook on certain aspects of my life and altered my perception on things. The aftermath: A happier, more content, balanced lifestyle. I never thought, or at least failed to realize, that reading in general brings so much to one's life. And when I say reading, I mean it in the most general sense possible. It could be anything from reading the newspaper for 10 minutes every morning as a routine to start your day, the latest sci-fi novel form your favourite author, or a self-healing book to help you sort out whatever issues you may have in your life. There are countless benefits to reading and I cannot believe I have gone for so many years without reading. And when I say without reading, I simply mean that I have not taken advantage of loaning a book from my local library or simply purchasing one. I have not actively gone out of my way to start and finish a good read. Sure, I'd have the occasional newspaper, magazine reads for a a few minutes here and there but having book reading as a semi-regular activity in my life: Never.
It really is the simplest things in life which bring about the most happiness. Who knew, I'd have this love affair with books now. So every time I finish one book, I go back to my local library and select another of my choosing and this simple act makes me so happy. During my readings, I keep tabs on specific books/novels I know I have to get my eyes on. I've created a brief list of books I absolutely need to read before the end of this year, as part of my resolution. I thought it would be nice to share this list with you all in that it may bring about some inspiration for your next reading.
